There shoul~, many challenges to meet, fine friendships to form, and countless opportuni- ties for growth and professional development. On the other hand, if you expect a miserable year, a time of tension and pressure, a period of unremitting work and no pleasure, you will probably have just that. As your teachers, we, too, have expectations. We want you to go about your work with zest and enthusiasm. We ex- pect you to work hard, and to enjoy it. If the law is to be your career, you should find satisfaction in doing your work well, or you have made the wrong choice. We think of you already as lawyers, as adults, as mature and responsible men and women, and we have great confidence in your abili- ty to work independently, to solve your own problems and to conduct your own aflairs.
