handle is hein.journals/fmlcr3 and id is 1 raw text is: EDITORIAL SOME NEW HORIZONS (an Editorial) The Conference of Conciliation Courts is now a reality, and not just a gleam in the eye of imagina- tive judges and marriage counselors. The successful San Diego conference of September, 1964, demonstrated vitality and enthusiasm that can carry the new organization to important heights. With a functional constitution and alert governing body, the only limits now are the energy, time and interest of the judges and marriage coun- selors who are active members. There appear to be several reasons for the enthusiasm generated during the conference: 1. The ability to discuss mutual goals and similar problems. Since a majority of the ten par- ticipating courts still function with only one mar- riage counselor, there was widespread appreciation expressed for the opportunity to have personal con- tact with other conference members. 2. The opportunity to exchange useful infor- mation, thus enabling each participating court to keep abreast of new developments and imaginative programs which can be shared to the mutual benefit of all. 3. A reaffirmation of the leadership of the judges in the growth of the Conciliation Court pro- gram and its development throughout the state and nation. We salute the Conference and member courts - as well as those courts established since last Sep- tember - for providing a clear indication of what this conference can and will become. C. H.
