I know that I can rely on every one of you to supply me with prompt reports as to the result of your research,, as well as your written sug- gestions for the conduct of the Section, and, also, timely, but brief items for inclusion in this publication. Two of our very active leade-a will be par- ticipating in the Open Scientific Meeting of the Southern California Society for Psychiatry and the Law on November 23rd at the Statler- Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Our Vice-Chairman, Judge Roger Alton Pfaff and Council member Harry M. Fain will take part in a panel discussion on Divorce, Separation, Reconciliation and Child Custody Matters: How Can the Psychiatrist Assist the Lawyer? CLEVELAND MEETING - NOVEMBER 15 An exciting Family Law Section program has been planned for the Great Lakes Regional Meeting in Cleveland on Friday, November 15 at 9:30 A. M. The subjects are varied, the speakers-the best! Just see - and tell your friends: 1. Dangers and Hazards of Divorce Practice Howard C. Bregel, Baltimore, Section chairman 2. Scope and Proper Activities for the Famil Lawyer - Stanton L. Ehrlich, Chicago, Last Retiring Chairman TO STABILIZE AND PRESERVE FAMILY LIFE 3. Artificial Insemination - . Howard C. Schwab, Toledo Where? - At the Hotel Cleveland-Sheratont HAVE YOU READ? The Journal of Family Law (University of Louisville School of Law) in its Spring 1963 issue included articles on The Juvenile Court and the Lawyer; Mental Hygiene, Divorce and the Law; Legal and Psychiatric Aspects of Voluntary Sterilization The 1962 Kentucky Divorce Law. The Buffalo Law Review in its June 1963 issue carried an interesting symposium on the new New York Family Court Act, with articles dealing with Lawyer - Social Worker relation- ships, Intake in the Family Court, Treatment of Youth, etc. The 1962 Annual Survey of American Law (New York University School of Law) contains an article on Family Law written with his usual brilliance and wit by our own Henry H. Foster Jr. It includes comments on new deci- sions in the areas of divorce, alimony and support, annulment, and adoption and legiti- macy. IN OUR COMMITTEES The Marriage Law Committee, chaired by James Hart of Roanoke will be concentrating on two projects this year. A subcrnmnittee under Professor Walter J. Wadlington,, Jr. of the University of Virginia Law School. plans to complete its research and to present pro- posed 'uniform marriage laws to the Council of the Section at its mid-winter meeting. The Committee, and a Subcommittee under Miss Elizabeth R. Young will contact bar associ- ations and members of the Committee in states not centralizing divorce data, to push the enactment of State laws to centralize data. The United States Congress will also be asked to assist the centralization of data nationally. The almost impossible situation now existing in searching for a divorce makes a central clearing house of great importance to prac- ticing lawyers over the entire United States.
