Your new chair- man feels just a little like a new bridegroom (at this late date! ) He is charmed with his espousal but also impressed with the magnitude of his new responsibilities. There is not time for a honeymoon. We must proceed at once to consolidate our past accomplishments and move on to new ones. Clearly, the entire American Bar owes a debt of gratitude to those who have served as officers of this Section in the past year. Clarence Kolwyck, Judge Paul Alexander, John Bradway and Judge Godfrey Munter, as Section Delegate to the House of Delegates, have accomplished prodigious gains. Our Section is firmly established. It remains for us to prove the value of their efforts. This is not the time to forecast the future. I hope to be able to report solid progress in issues of Family Lawyer to come. Now, I urge each of you to do two things: First, secure as many new members for this Section as you can. As our membership grows from its nearly 800, it will more significantly and more accu- rately reflect the aims and purposes of the American Bar. Second, please communicate with me. I need your advice, your suggestions and your judgment. We can build solidly only if we plan together. This Section enjoyed a remarkable conven- tion in Washington, D. C. Almost 900 different individuals attended one or more of the sessions. But more remarkable was the interest and enthu- siasm displayed by the many individuals who volunteered their time and experience. We shall have a productive year and we shall look forward to an even greater convention in St. Louis in 1961. I am confident that you will agree with me that America can have no greater asset than strong, healthy, happy families. Let us resolve to build a bulwark of justice for these families which shall become a beacon of democracy throughout the world. Nothing less will suffice. SOL MORTON ISAAC, Chairman P.S. IT HAPPENED IN WASHINGTON The Washington meeting of the ABA in August gave our Family Law Section an oppor- tunity to blossom out in full, hs over 900 mem- bers and friends attended one or more of its interesting sessions. We were honored by the presence of many of our British legal brethren and by the guest speaking appearances of the Hon. Mr. Justice Marshall, the Hon. Mr. Justice Sachs, Miss D. Knight Dix, Q. C. and Mr. Stephen Keleny, all of London. Among our own distinguished speakers were Judges Paul Alexander, of Toledo; Theodore B. Knudson, of Minneapolis; Roger Alton Pfaff, of Los Angeles, and Mary C. Kohler, formerly of San Francisco, now of New York. Heard from our platform, too, were Harry X. Cole and Matilda Fenberg, both of Chicago; Prof. Henry H. Foster, Pittsburgh; Sidney B. Schatkin, New York; John A. Wallace, Baltimore and John C. Leary of ABA Headquarters. Of course all of our outgoing officers were heard--Chairman, Clarence Kolwyck, Vice Chairman, Judge Alexander; Secretary, John S.
