DENIAL OF CONJUGAL VISITS
IN PRISON
In Polakoff v. Henderson, 370 F.
Supp. 690 (U.S.D.C. N.D. Ga.), a
federal prisoner and his wife brought
an action for damages against the
warden of the prison where plaintiff
husband  was incarcerated. The
Pistrict Court, granting a motion to
dismiss, held that the regulation of
the prison denying conjugal visits to
married prisoners and their wives
was not a denial of equal protection

Section of Taxation, I am delighted
to participate in your discussion
today of the common problems of
family and tax law. I do so, however,
with humility and even a touch of
trepidation, for my professional tax
experience has been derived more
from marrying or divorcing business
organizations than human beings,
more with parent and subsidiary
than parent and child. In speaking to
you, I bear in mind the legendary
victim of the Johnstown flood who,
on arriving at the pearly gates,
wanted to impress upon St. Peter the
magnitude of the flood and its
