A record attendance distinguished the last Annual Meeting of
the Federal Grand Jury Association, held in the impressive general
meeting room of the Bar Association Building on West 44th Street at
five o'clock on Tuesday, November 15th.
The President, Mr. Harold S. Sutton, presided and welcomed the
many members, their friends and the Association's guests of honor.
Among the latter were the Honorable Irving R. Kaufman and the
Honorable Lloyd F. McMahon, Judges of the United States District
Court for the southern district of New York.
In his annual report to the members, President Sutton touched
upon the history of the grand jury system as well as the background
of the Association, emphasizing the many contributions made by the
Association to the vigor of the Federal grand jury system. Other
reports were rendered by the Treasurer, Mr. D'Arcy Parrott; by the
Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Mr. Gilbert L. Kerr; and by
the Chairman of a Committee to revise the By-Laws, Mr. A. Vere Shaw.
The report of Mr. Shaw, respected former President of the
Association, concerned itself with certain changes in the By-Laws
affecting standing committees and procedure. Details are omitted
from this bulletin, but any member desiring them may call at the
Association office and examine the record. Mr. Shaw's report was
unanimously adopted.
Mr. Kerr's report recited the Nominating Committee's
recommendation of the following candidates for election to the
Association's Board of Directors:
