Although only started in
1928, I feel that the Federal
Jury Association has accom-
plished a great deal and that
the aitms and objects are such
that they appeal to the busy
business men who make up
the organization.
History shows that the
laymen have played the most
important part in law and
other reforms-that stripped
of mystery and all technicali-
ties and itt all honeste, those
who have sat on juries fully
realize that common sense
and fairness to all men should prevail.
As a strictly non-partisan organization whose ulti-
mate object is only for the common weal with no axe
to grind I only ask your hearty co-operation and sup-
port for the coming years.
. The objects of the Association are:
1. To assist Grand Jurors in their actions upon matters
covered by those sections of the Federal Judiciary

3.1 To impress upon Grand
Jurors that their service
is a civic duty accotm-
panied by serious respon-
sibilities to which they
must set aside a certain
amount of time each year
for the betterment of the
State and Nation.
4. To co-operate with the
Federal Officials and other
Civic Associations in ad-
vocating measures it-
tended to improve meti-
ods of dealing with crime
and criminals.
5. To increase the efficiency
of the Grand jury Systenm.
Your co-operation is essential--in fact, a necessity-
and-speaking of our Association, we request your
support and any constructive suggestions.
Judging from the past. I assume the duties of this
ofice entirely conident that our members will respond
cheer fully and promptly to every call and carry their
share of the responsibility.
