Vol. XXVIII. No. 1

New York 17, N.Y.

February 1957

Taxing the seating capacity of the Warwick Room - of the hotel
of the same name - members and friends of the Federal Grand Jury
Association for the Southern District of New York met recently for
the organization's 29th Annual Meeting.
On recommendations by the Nominating Committee the following
candidates were unanimously elected to the Board of Directors for
terms expiring in 1959:
Newcomb D. Cole
Edwin B. Katte
Gilbert L. Kerr
Victor A. Lambert
Lee Mack Marshall
A. Vere Shaw
New to the Board is Mr. Marshall, Advertising Manager of
Continental Baking Company.
Traditionally the Annual Meeting is the occasion for the
rendition of the Report of the President on the activities of the
Association for the year. At the recent meeting President Bernhard
K. Schaefer made his report in the following words:
It is a real pleasure for me to report to all of the members
of the Federal Grand Jury Association for the Southern District of
New York - especially you who are here tonight - about another
year of activity.
The financial condition of any organization is always of
vital importance to its members and directors and I am pleased to
report that ours is satisfactory and that we have sufficient cash
on hand. When our new Treasurer - Mr. Victor A. Lambert - assumed
his duties early in the year, he requested that an audit of our
books and records be made and Messrs. S. D. Leidesdorf, Certified
Public Accountants, were engaged for that purpose. They have
confirmed that our Receipts, Disbursements and Cash on Hand as at
the end of 1955 are all in order. We are indebted to Mr. Lambert
for having an 'outside audit' made.
