President Bernhard K. Schaefer rendered his annual report,
summarizing the work of the Association for the year as follows:
As we approach the end of another year and my term of office,
it is proper that I should report to the membership here assembled
on the activities during the past year of the Federal Grand Jury
Association for the Southern District of New York. I shall be
very brief and not burden you with statistics.
It is gratifying to report that our finances are in good con-
dition. This highly satisfactory situation is a reflection of the
generous and loyal support we have received from our many members.
It also is evidence of the close and careful attention to his
duties of our Treasurer of many years standing -
Mr. Harold S. Bailey - to whom our thanks are extended.
Mention was made inmy report last year of a proposed National
Federal Grand Jury Association through which our aims and pur-
poses could be made more effective. Initial steps toward this
goal have been taken but it is very evident that an undertaking
of this magnitude cannot be completed in a matter of weeks or
months and I anticipate that it will be some time before the
special committee appointed for this purpose is ready to report.
