     ER-    and  poly-fluoroalkyl
     substances (PFAS) are  a
     group    of   manufactured
synthetic chemicals which  have
been widely used in industry and
consumer products since the 1940s
to enhance  consumer   products'
water, stain, and grease resistance.1
PFAS  are created by  combining
carbon and fluorine, which results
in a powerful bond that is difficult
to break down  in the body or to

decompose   in the environment.
This characteristic has earned them
the moniker forever chemicals. It
is also the reason why PFAS can be
found in the blood of nearly all
humans  and many  animals across
the globe. Some  reports suggest
that those at risk of exposure may
include individuals who consume
food   packaged   in   materials
containing PFAS   and   workers
involved  in  manufacturing  or
