Its theme was intentionally very broad, namely 'Key Corporate Governance Themes and Issues in a Globalised and Internationalised World', in order to identify as many core international corporate governance and corporate law themes and issues as possible. This award of €250 000 over a five year period (2013 2017), was awarded to Professor Jean du Plessis based on a nomination by Professor Ingo Saenger, University of Miinster. It was one of seven Anneliese Maier Research Awards made by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2013. The award winners were selected from the 54 people (from 26 different countries) nominated for the Award in 2012. Nominations were invited from all disciplines of the humanities and social sciences, but not natural sciences. The nominations were all aimed at the further internationalisation of the humanities and social sciences in Germany.
