Luckily for us Joel Milner did produce as fine a special issue for March 1992 as he did for us in March 1991. In the 1991 issue, he recruited a panel of experts who summarized the field of physical child abuse. The issue has received many plaudits from a diverse group of professionals. The present issue is a companion to the earlier one. This issue deals with the topic of sexual child abuse. It follows our editorial philosophy that the journal and each article in it be not only relevant but essential for researchers, practitioners, and teachers. Thus theoretical issues such as the quadripartite model of sexual child abuse, psychometric questions, and psycholegal aspects of sexual child abuse are raised in this issue. Many research questions surface such as the dynamics of victim selection, and the adequacy of perpe- trator and victim profiling. The practitioner will find the articles enriching in considering such areas as the veracity of victim reports, and the adequacy of the scientific base for assertions that the expert witness might make in court. Finally, treatment considerations in the last article raise questions that cut across research, theory, and clinical considerations. We are proud of the issue and the contributors to this signal project. The only remaining question for the journal is whether lightning can strike thrice.
