This issue of Criminal Law and Philosophy is the first to publish PhD abstracts from
successful PhDs in the fields covered by the journal. We mooted this idea on Twitter
several years ago, and the reception was very positive.
It has always been our goal to make the journal a home for those working at
the intersection of criminal law and philosophy and publishing recent PhD abstracts
seems to us to help with this goal in at least a couple of ways: it introduces new
scholars to the community, and it enables more established scholars to learn about
new work and new people. We hope, too, that publishing PhD abstracts will enhance
the visibility of new scholars who, for whatever reason, lack the networks that some
of us are lucky enough to enjoy and from which we benefit.
To the same end, starting in 2024, we hope to establish a triennial Criminal Law
and Philosophy Conference that will provide a regular, if not frequent, chance for
our community to meet. We will be making further announcements about that soon.
