ACCREDITATION
Connecticut
State ex. rel. Commission for Higher Education v. Wethersfield School of Law,
Inc., 362 A.2d 1371 (1975). The State of Connecticut brought this action to enjoin
a law school from maintaining and operating a school of law, so-called, on a post-
graduate level, in any place within the state, unless and until it complied with
the provisions of General Statute, Section 10-330. The trial court granted the
inj unction.
The state supreme court, in setting aside the judgment of the court below,
pointed out that the school had not, at any time, claimed that college or univer-
sity-level credits would be given for the successful completion of its courses;
that it had been, in accordance with the provisions of its charter, conducting
courses ***relating to the law to persons who do not wish a juris doctor degree
or a bachelor of law degree***.
AFFILIATION

Plechner v. Widener College, Inc., 418 F. Supp. 1282 (E.D.Pa. 1976). This
action was brought by a minority of the members of the board of trustees of Delaware
Law School seeking to set aside the affiliation of the law school with Widener Col-
lege. A federal district court held that evidence established the fact that, de-
spite the pressure of time on the trustees of the law school to obtain accreditation
by affiliation with a college in time to benefit the first graduating class of the
school, the trustees voting for the affiliation were not subject to compulsion,
duress, coercion or undue influence such as would invalidate their action; that the
transaction whereby the college obtained the sole share of stock of the law school
for one dollar was not invalid because of inadequacy of consideration; that the
