handle is hein.journals/captowjo2 and id is 1 raw text is: Editorial Jeffrey Wool University of Washington - General Editor Rafal Zakrzewski University of Cambridge - Editor The mandate of the Cape Town Convention Journal (the 'CTC Journal'), part of the Cape Town Convention Academic Project (the 'Project'), a joint undertaking between the University of Oxford Faculty of Law and the University of Washington School of Law, is to focus on in-depth, qualitative analysis of important, difficult or complex topics under the Convention and its various Protocols. This second issue, published under the auspices of the Project and UNIDROIT, does exactly that. Its content reflects a deepening analysis of (i) the texts of the Convention and the Protocols, (ii) the legal and practical issues associated with their implementation, and (iii) the issues that relate to or link the text and its implementation. In the first category are articles assessing provisions relating to (a) intangible assets (Professor Sir Roy Goode QC, Emeritus Professor of Law at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow of St John's College, Oxford), (b) jurisdiction and choice of law (Professor Karl Kreuzer, Emeritus Professor of Law at the University ofWiirzburg) and (c) public service (Howard Rosen, principal of Howard Rosen Solicitors and chairman of the Rail Working Group). In the second category are articles analysing (a) the relationship between the texts and national law (Jeffrey Wool, secretary general of the Aviation Working Group, head of aerospace law and policy at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and affiliate professor of law, University of Washington and Andrej Jonovic, an associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer) and (b) the development of the international registry under the Aircraft Protocol (William Piels, a partner of Holland & Knight LLP and Chairperson of the regulation drafting committee of the International Registry Advisory Board, and Tan Siew Huay, Director (Legal) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Chairperson of the Regulations drafting group of ICAO's Commission of Experts for the Supervisory Authority of the International Registry). In the third category are articles addressing (a) non-consensual rights and interests (John Pritchard, a partner of Holland & Knight LLP and David Lloyd, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of GE Capital Aviation Services), and (b) perfection and priority provisions from a comparative law perspective (Michel Deschamps, a partner of McCarthy Tetrault, associate professor at the Faculty of Law of University of Montr&al). These contributions are provided by authors active in developing the matters addressed. All of these articles, save one, have been written by at least one author who was a participant of, or was an observer at, the relevant diplomatic conferences that adopted the texts. Like the momentous revisions to the Official Commentaries (for the Convention and each of the Protocols) published since the last issue of this Journal, these materials continue to reflect and expand upon the original intent of the drafters of the texts.
