M1rs. Ann Paulson, Program Chairman, has announced that there will be a general discussion on the topic The Relationship of the Law Library to a Centralized Library Ad- ministration. The discussion leaders will be Miss Elizabeth Benyon of the University of Chaicago Law Library and Father Burke of DePaul University. Officers for the coming year will also be elected and in- ducted. ANNUAL MEETIN1G OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION TO BE HELD IN BOSTON The annual conference of the American Association of Law Li- braries will be held at the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston from Mon- day, June 23rd, through Thursday, June 28th, 1951. Reservations should be made directly with the hotel. Further details about the program and a schedule of post convention tours will be found in the February issue of the Law Library Journal. A number of Chicago law librarians are planning to attend. COOPERATIVE PROGRAM BETWEEN MAJOR LAN LIBRARIES ADVANCED DURING PAST YEAR The Committee of Representatives of the Four Major Law Li- brqries in Chicago has held two meetings during the past year and made considerable progress in the cooperative program it is de- ±loping. A check list of Pennsylvania Side Reports has been com- lAeted and work is going forward on check lists of session laws, state attorney general reports, judicial council reports, court re- ports of the British Isles and publications of the American Law In- stitute other than final drafts. At the.-last meeting, it was also decided to commence checking the resources of the four libraries as to early and scarce legal periodicals. The committee has approved a statement of Use and Loan Poli- cy which will be submitted at the May meeting. The purpose of this document is to state in vriting the circumstrnces under which persons,to whom a library is not primarily responsible, may use the library and the conditions under which libraries will lend books to other libraries. Although there is already considerable cooperation between the libraries in the acquisition of materials in order to avoid un- necessary duplication the completion of the check lists will among other things make it possible to concentrate on specific areas where it is found that the combined resources are inadequate. MARCH MEETIG HELD AT NORTHNESTERN UNIVERSITY LAN SCHOOL The last meeting of the Association was held at the North-. westdrn University Law School on the evening of Liarch 13th. The dinner was served in Abbott Hall and afterward those in attendance adjourned to the Law School for an inspection of the Library. This is the second meeting that has featured a visit to a member library. The first one was in the spring of 1950 when the meeting was held ct the University of Chicago Law School.
