                                    AALL CONFERENCE

The ALL Conference is taking place here in Chicago at The Drake from July 2-5, 1972, and
weall are hosts!! The official opening reception will be Sunday night-from 7:00 until
9:0o, though there will be a workshop for private law libraries on Sunday from 2:00
to 7:00.

Newer law librarians are urged to attend the special program for them on July 1. For
further information, contact Robert Kelly at DePaul, Webster 9-3525. He is Chairman of
the Local Arrangements Committee.

Wehope you are all planning to attend this conference and included are two pre-conference
notices for those of you who are attending. The program will consist mainly of panels
and questions afterwards. Sunday night, from 7:00 to 9:00, will be the opening reception.
Mondiy morning will be a program on Continuing Education for Law Librarians. In the after-
noon there will be a lecture on Psychiatry and the Law Librarian. A University of
Michigan psychiatrist will speak. Tuesday morning there will be a discussion of non-book
material and the law library; in the afternoon, Government documents will be explored.
Wednesday morning Ethics for Law Libraries will be the topic and in the afternoon
Library Networks-Implications for Law Libraries is the subject.

                           CONFERENCE OF NEWER LAW LIBRARIANS

Are you a new member of AALL? Or did you join a few years ago but still haven't found
your niche in committee work? Maybe you wonder if this is just one more organization that
collects dues and does nothing. If so, reserve July 1 to attend CONELL. The 1972 Annual
Meeting opens at the Drake Hotel in Chicago on the next day.

The Conference of Newer Law Librarians started in 1970. Its purpose is to give new members
the information they need to function as informed and knowledgeable members of the Associ-
ation early in their careers. CONELL hopes to accomplish this by:

A. Offering programs about AALL; its structure, its activities, its history, its relation
to the profession, its committees' activities, etc.

B. Affording newcomers an opportunity to get acquainted with the officers and other out-
standing members of the Association right from the beginning.

C. Providing a forum where new members can easily establish social contacts and thus do
not feel isolated during the conventions.

The schedule this year is slightly different to accommodate those arriving Saturday morning
from the Institute in Champaign. We will start off with a mid-morning brunch, during which
Vewill hear from President Viola Bird about some of the current Association issues.

We're very excited about having a Past Presidents' Panel, led by our immediate past president,
)orris Cohen. With many of the past presidents with us, we will have an opportunity to find
