MEETINGS Our Christmas Party was held December 13 at Blair House, but only the hardy attended as the weather was miserable. Those who made it had a good time due to the excellent planning and hard work of the Program and Meetings Committees. The Introducing Game was fun, the food fine and the program pleasing. Our January 24, 1969, meeting, held at Chicago Bar Association, had as guest and speaker then AALL President Earl-Borgeson, who told of the matters which were under serious study and considera- tion during his tenure. One was the Statistical Survey. This had been difficult to get underway as there is great difference of opinion as to what is important. There were three ad hoc committees, which functioned during his term, to consider: 1. Drafting of standards for librariest services and collections--for various types of libraries 2. Membership structure 3. Committee structure In addition, he asked for suggestions regarding: 1. Records and briefs--cooperative storage and use 2. National structure of the Association regarding gifts and memorials 3. Publications--Is there a job to be done which is not being done now? Our March 21 meeting, held at Stoufferts Madison Street, featured Mr. Richard A. Davis, Assistant Librarian of the Midwest Regional Medical Library, Service Division, as speaker. He explained the nature and intent of this library which is of interest to law librarians because of the similarity of purpose to our needs. Mr. Davis said that to establish a regional library (such as we might hope to have) there are certain steps to be taken: 1. There must be agreement between the libraries them- selves on the need. 2. Proposals must be evaluated by the supporting Council. 3. There must be approval reached by all concerned.
