 NUMBER 39 February. 1967

                              C. A. L. L. MEETINGS

The Fall meeting, held at the Chicago Bar Association, was attended by a full
membership--many new members swelling the ranks. Elaine Teigler, our new
president, greeted everyone, and introduced the new members and our guests.
She presented David Bryant, Chairman of the Program Committee, who, as he said,
presented the program. He gave a most interesting description of his attend-
ance at the Davis, California, Institute on Electronic Data Retrieval held prior
to the A.A.L.L. Annual Meeting in Los Angeles.

This year the Holiday meeting was a dinner party held December 9, in Charter
Hall of'the Chicago Bar Association. We had a fine dinner and were pleasantly
entertained by one of our new members, Mr. Herrera, who played the piano.
Eileen Murphy was there from Detroit and it was good to see her. Our anonymous
benefactors picked up part of the tab and we thank them for their hospitality.

March 17 marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the CHICAGO ASSOCIATION
OF LAW LIBRARIES--and the Program Committee and President Teigler are working
hard to make our meeting, to be held that day, a real celebration. They are
hoping that a numbe of the Founders will be able to attend. The meeting is
to be at the Furniture Club and you will receive your notice as usual. In
addition to the recognition of the Founding Day, you will find the program
most absorbing. It is to center on the BIG problem of today's law libraries,
Training and Placement of law librarians. There will be a panel made up of
our members and representatives of law offices arid office managers have been
invited as guests who may have comments to make. Special emphasis will be
given to the beginner, untrained in law librarianship, and how the experienced
librarian can help recruit, encourage and educate these people to our mutual
benefit. You will find it thought-provoking, and those of our new members,
just coming into the field, will find it especially rewarding.

                              WE GREET NEW MEMBERS

 Assistant Reference Librarian.
