MEETINGS Our first meeting of the 1965-1966 year, held October 29, was presided over by our new President, Frank Lukes. It was a very successful one, arranged by Joseph Benson, Chairman of the Program Committee. We had a delicious lunch (sans dessert!) at Mayor's Row, followed by a tour of the court rooms in the new Civic Center, con- ducted by Gerald W. Shea, Administrative Assistant to Judge John S. Boyle. Then we met in an unoccupied court room and Bob Roalfe, a member of the Advisory Committee for the Civic Center Library (to be), in a witty and understanding way, told us of the plans, arguments, pitched battles, victories and defeats which have gone into the shaping of this project. The meeting was an unexpectedly large one and almost everyone stayed to the end, proving that the Program Committee had functioned successfully. Our Christmas Party will again be at the Fortnightly Club of Chicago, 120 East Bellevue Place (Whitehall 4-1330). It will be held Thursday evening, December 16, from 5:15 to 7:00 P. M. Coffee, tea and appetizers will be served and there will be a cash bar--and lots of good company. WE GREET NEW MEMBERS Miss Barbara Anderson, formerly Assistant Librarian at Covington and Burling, in Washington, D. C., is now Librarian at McDermott, Will & Emery, and is adjusting to life in the Midwest. Miss Ruth Diaz is the new assistant to Fred Donnelly at Loyola University Law Library. She hopes to start classes in Library Science at Rosary College in February. Miss Sally Martini, from the University of Indiana at Kokomo, is working part time at Loyola University Law Library as cataloguer while preparing her thesis for a degree in Library Science at the University of Chicago. Mr. Edward Hess, of the University of Illinois Law Library. Mrs. Ida Olson, who is secretary to Mr. Kurt Schwerin at Northwestern University Law Library. NEWS OF MEMBERS Miss Janice Babb is in the midst of a busy season, for she has taken on two jobs in the Special Library Association. One is the Placement Chairmanship for the Illinois Chapter, and the other is the Social Science Chairmanship for the National Chapter. Mr. Joseph Benson, having been in Europe in 1965, is looking to the Far East in 1966 (Hong Kong in May?). Joe is now serving on the National Advisory Council for URBANDOC.
