We're off to Boston--the land of the bean and the cod. The Annual Meet- ing of the American Association of Law Libraries will be held at the Sheraton-Plaza Hotel in Boston from June 26 to the 29th. The committee is very busily preparing a program that will be of interest to all. We hope that we shall have a very good representation from Chicago. The American Association of Law Libraries will convene at Harvard for a week prior to the Annual Meeting (June 19-23) to participate in their form of con- tinuing professional education--the Fifth Biennial Law Librarians Institute. The topic of the 1961 Institute is of interest to librarians and lawyers--THE LITERATURE OF THE LAW--TECHNIQUES OF ACCESS. General lectures and demonstration sessions will cover: Legal Research--An Historical Perspective Literature of Law--Contemporary Law Book Publishing Access to Law--Data Processing and the Future Access to Books in the Law Library The general sessions will be supplemented by a series of more intensive discussions of specific problems relating to sources of the law and research tech- niques. You or your librarian may direct inquiries about the Institute or any resultant publications to Earl C. Borgeson, Harvard Law School Library, Cambridge 38, Massachusetts. Also prior to the A. A. L. L. Annual Meeting, the two-year-old Interna- tional Association of Law Libraries will meet at Harvard, June 24-25. Delegates to the meeting will consider the role of the Association in facilitating the ex- change of foreign publications and will hear about a variety of subjects including: Establishing and Developing World Law Libraries Improving American Law Collections in American Libraries Abroad Foreign Law Collections in American Libraries KURT SCHWERIN TO EUROPE As announced before, Kurt Schwerin, Associate Professor of Law and Assist- ant Law Librarian, has been invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Association of German Research Librarians at Munich, May 23-27, where he will read a paper on American Law Libraries. He also will convey the official greetings of the Amer- ican Library Association. While in Europe, Mr. Schwerin will visit a number of research institutes and libraries. Among others, he has arranged visits and con- ferences in London at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London; at the Max- Planck-Institute for Foreign and International Private Law, Hamburg and the Max- Planck-Institutes for Foreign Public and International Law, Heidelberg and Berlin;
