Outgoing Chairman's Report

by Richard W. Pogue
It is with mixed emotions that I
report the passing of the Chairman's
gavel to Richard A. Whitingof Wash-
ington, DC at the Annual Meeting in
Chicago. It was a difficult undertak-
ing because my year at the helm of the
Section which ended August 7 was an
exceptionally satisfying chapter in my
professional career. At the same time,
however, I was heartened by the fact
that Dick Whiting and the rest of the
strong Section leadership for the new
program year have demonstrated
their ability and dedication and will

assuredly continue the Section's tradi-
tion of accomplishment and service.
I believe that the Section made sig-
nificant progress during the 1983-84
Program Year- particularly in con-
nection with the promptness and ex-
cellence of its publications (including
our landmark work, Antitrust Law
Developments (Second)), highly in-
formative and topical programs, in-
creased committee activity, better
liaison with other professional groups
and governmental entities, develop-
ment and presentation of well-consid-
                Continued on ,age 6
