We are sorry to say that our good friend, Vice-President Hill, receives some letters from people [who perhaps approve the mutilation of horses for life, and the unlimited dissection of dogs, cats and other animals] in which they express substantially their entire willingness that we should visit the Hot Springs of Arkansas for an indefinite period - but on the other hand we are receiving lots of kind letters from good friends in our own and other countries in which they express the hope that we may still have before us many years of active service, and all kinds of happiness both in this world and the next.
