1. Mexico City Station appreciates Headquarters' prompt processing and
renewal of Project LIFEAT.
2. In regard to the comuents made by KIVrUBE/rNr and forwarded by referene,
the tation wishes to note that LIEAT coverage is devoted primarily to support
the Station's CE program and the Station's operational program as well as to
cover targets the Station wishes done unilaterally. Very little information
of a positive intelligence nature is provided from this type of trget line.
3. It is further noted that Soviet, Bloc and Cuban coverages, which do
provide dissemir.able intellsence, are covered by LIVOY except in the case
of Yugostav and Polish coverage. Yugoslav covarege is presently being shifted.
to LI124VOY. It was during the period when LIFET covered the Soviet and Czech
official installations that a greater number o: disseminations (rotod in para-
graph 2 of reference) were made from LIFFAT material.
4. As to the routine interest of Subjects covered by LIFSAT, it was the
opinion of the Station that LIFEXI take, such as that on ESLARL-i, was of in-
terest to Thomas A. E2W.T anti of sone interest to 0f'IDEAL himself.
5. In view of the coverage presently provided by LI24WOY, it is Station's
-opinion that LIFEAT's best contribution will remain in proviuing unilateral
coverage keyed to the support of the Station's operations and special Headquarters
requests (such as coverage of persons of ZRIQOICK interest). In the event it
becomes necessary or desirable that LIFEAT shift its operational emphasis, tin
LIFEAT complex is ready to accomplish this ope tional*re-adjustment rApidly.
