The undersigned vas advised by VH/4/Security on the morning of 7 July that Tony Varona had called asking to speak with P-ank EO2r3. Varona is in Washington where he is stay- ing at the Roosevelt Hotel, DFcatur 2-080, room 707. He will reain in Washington for three or four days. 2. The undersigned vas able to reach Varona by sterile telephone at about 16:15. 2e undersigned gave his name as Raymod S. Clark - vbo is a friend of Frank DER-and indicated that Varona aight tell the undersigned the same things he would tell Frank EDM. 3. Varona brought up the follovig fear points: a. He inquired as to the state of recruiting and as to what was taxing place in connection with the Cuban situation, presuxably from a military point of view. b. He said that he wished to get in touch with General Taylor, vhereupon the unadersigned told him that The method of doing that vould be through Mr. Goodwin. e. He referred to a rurported ofTer by the United States to take care of himself and his family vwile he was in the United States ane ErAt e had not received payment, the undersigned understoAd ,for ag last month. d. In general, he vandered whether the U.S. was going to do anything about Cuba or not, and he said that he had talked with Goodwin and that nothing had been resolved. 4. Vith the exception of answering an to the means of getting in to with General Taylor, the undersigned stated that he knew very little abort the matters which Varona brought up, but that he would pasa on the information to others.
