AN ACT
To authorize the Commissioner of Patents to designate
Examiners to serve temporarily as Examiners in Chief.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
That notwithstanding the provisions of section 476 of the
Revised Statutes (U. S. C., title 35, sec. 2), the Com-
missioner of Patents is authorized to designate Examiners
of the Principal Examiner grade or higher, having the
requisite ability, to serve as Examiners in Chief and such
Examiners so designated shall be fully qualified to act as
members of the Board of Appeals constituted by section
482 of the Revised Statutes (U. S. C., title 35, sec. 7) :
Provided, That no such Examiner shall so serve for more
than ninety days In any calendar year but thereafter they
shall have authority to act and sign decisions and papers
necessary to complete action on cases heard during such
ninety days: And provided further, That not more than
one such Examiner shall be among the members of the
Board of Appeals hearing an appeal.
SEC. 2. This act shall take effect on the date of approval
and shall expire three years after such date.

Point, Washington, D. C., beginning on or about September
30, 1946:

Richmond:

The following Examining Divisions: 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9,

61, and 62; and any and. all units or parts thereof
now remaining in Richmond.

Notice of Cancellation
U. S. PATENT OFF'ICE, Richmond, Va., August 1, 1946.
Napoleon 0. Basford, his assigns or legal representatives,
take notice:
A cancellation proceeding having been Instituted by this
Office upon the application of The Hygienic Products
Company, 220 Seventh Street, Southeast, Canton, Ohio, to
effect the cancellation of trade-mark registration of Na-
poleon 0. Basford, 317 Maiden Lane, Akron, Ohio, No.
259,376, dated July 30, 1929, and the Patent Office having
been advised that the said Basford is deceased, notice is
hereby given that unless the heirs of Basford, his assigns,
legal representatives, or other person claiming an interest
in the registration, shall enter an appearance therein
within thirty days from the first publication of this order
the cancellation will be proceeded with as in the case of
default. This notice will be published in the OFFICIAL
GAZETTE for three consecutive weeks.
