NUMBERING OF CLAIMS.
REVOCATION OF ORDER NO. 3,023.
(ORDEaR No. 3,035.)
DECEMBER 19, 1927.
Order No. 3,023, [363 0. G. 1], requiring claims ap-
pearing In any one paper to be numbered in a certain
order, was issued in an effort to facilitate the printing
of patent specifications; but the attempt to enforce It
has resulted in protests on the part of applicants, has
increased the labor, the expense, and the liability of error
of both the applicants and the Patent Office officials,
and has caused much confusion of the records. For
these reasons the order is hereby rescinded.
WM. A. KINNAN,
Acting Commissioner.
NOTICE.
U. S. PATENT OFFICE, Waslhington, Dec. 21, 1927.
RULE 8.-A separate letter should in every case be
written in relation to each distinct subject of Inquiry
or application. Assignments for record, final fees, and
orders for copies or abstracts must be sent to the office
in separate letters.
Papers sent in violation of this order will be returned.
The delay in handling orders for copies of foreign
patents, uncertified copies of United States patents, and
other Office records would be practically eliminated by
writing a separate letter for each order, as required by
this rule.
