Protection of Industrial Property in Morocco.
DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
Washington, D. C., April 27, 1921.
The following letter from the Director of the Mo-
roccan Patent Office is hereby published for the
benefit of those concerned.
THOMAS E. ROBERTSON,
Commissioner.
From the Director of the Office de Propriete Industrielle,
(Morocco Patent Office.)
RABAT, MoROCCO, Mar. 5, 191.
To the Comlmissioner of Patents, (Official Gazette,) Wash-
ington, D. C.
Mr. COMMISSIONER : According to the statistics of the
Moroccan Patent Office, it appears that commercial and
industrial men in your country are not, in appreciable
numbers, depositing their factory or trade marks, their
designs and models, and their patents of invention, in
Morocco.
Nevertheless, except as to marks internationally reg-
istered at Berne, your compatriots need to have them filed
at Rabat in order to be protected-in the French zone of
Morocco; and it is to their interest to file them, because
this country is in full development and an excellent field
for trade.
Doubtless you will consider it helpful so to inform your
I countrymen and to call their attention to a neglect very
harmful to their Interests.
At any rate, I have the honor to communicate to you
that the Moroccan (Patent) Office holds itself at your dis-
posal for any supplementary information regarding this
question.
Accept, if you will. Mr. Commissioner, the assurances
of my high and distinguished consideration.
