Amendments to Rules of Practice.

DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
Washington, D. C., June 9, 1916.
Acting under the provisions of section 483 of the Re-
vised Statutes and with the approval of the Secretary of
the Interior, Rule 12 of the Rules of Practice in the Pat-
ent Office Is amended by inserting after midnight, in
the third line of the second paragraph, the words
on week-days, including holidays, so that the rule as
amended will read as follows:
12. Mail reaching the post-office at Washington, D. C.,
up to 4.30 p. m. on week-days, excepting holidays, and
1 p. m. on half-holidays, is entered as received in the
Patent Office on the day it reaches the post-office.
Special-delivery letters and other papers may be de-
posited in a box provided at the watchman's desk at the
F street entrance of the Patent Office up to midnight on
week-days, including holidays, and all papers deposited
therein are entered as received in the Patent Office on
the day of deposit.
Letters received at the Office will be answered, and
orders for printed copies filled, without unnecessary de-
lay. Telegrams, If not received before 3 o'clock p. in.,
cannot ordinarily be answered until the following day.

All briefs filed in this Office should have conspicuously
printed thereon a statement designating the particular tri
bunal of the Patent Office to which the brief is addressed.
