Prohibiting the Use of the Names of Members of
Either House of Congress for Advertising Purposes,
An act prohibiting the use of the name of any member
of either House of Congress or of any officer of the Gov-
ernment by any person, firm, or corporation practising
before any department or office of the Government.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
tives of the United States of America in Congress assem-
bled, That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or
corporation practising before any department or office of
the Government to use the name of any member of either
House of Congress or of any officer of the Government in
advertising the said business.
SEC. 2. That this act shall take effect three months
after its date.
Approved April 27, 1916.
Adverse Decisions in Interference.
PATENT No. 1,071,612.
On March 27, 1916, a decision was rendered that
Stephen H. Farnham, Arthur W. Smith, and Joseph
Phelps were not the first inventors of the subject-matter
covered by claims 164, 165, 166, and 168 of their Patent
No. 1,071,612, subject,  Type-writing machine, and no
appeal having been taken within the time allowed such
decision has become final.
PATENT No. 1,121,327.
On March 29, 1916, a decision was rendered that Ed-
mund Curran was not the first inventor of the subject-
matter covered by claim 6 of his Patent No. 1,121,327,
subject,  Lacing-hook-setting machine, and no appeal
having been taken within the time allowed such decision
has become final.
