Internal Revenue-Stamp Act,
Department of the Interior,
United States Patent Office,
Washington, D. C., April 1, 1915.
This Office has been notified, under date of
March 27, 1915, by the Commissioner of Internal
Revenue, that a notarial certificate of the ac-
knowledgment of an       assignment of Letters
Patent, in accordance with the provisions of
section 4S98 of the Revised Statutes, is not a
certificate  required by law   within the mean-
ing of the act of October 22, 1914, and is there-
fore not taxable under that act.
In view of this ruling the notice issued by
this Office on November 14, 1914, (208 0. G., 661,)
that an assignment so acknowledged requires a
revenue stamp is hereby revoked.

Notice-Classified Index of Patents.
Commencing with this issue a classified Index of patents
will form a part of the OFFICIAL GAZETTE each week.
Date of Patent.
RULE 207. The weekly issue closes on Thursday, and the
patents of that Issue bear date as of the fourth Tuesday
thereafter. If the final fee in any application is not paid
on or before Thursday, the patent will not go to Issue until
the following week.
