Patent Office Classification.
Copies of the Manual of Classification of Subjects of
Invention of the United States Patent Office, revised to
January 1, 1912, may be obtained from the Commissioner
of Patents for ten cents each.
Copies of the Supplement to the Manual of Classi-
fication, containing the definitions of the classes and
subclasses that have been revised to January 1, 1912,
495 pages, paper covers, may be obtained from the Com-
missioner of Patents for fifty cents each. A small number
of copies of the supplement, printed on one side only
and unbound, may be had for fifty cents. These may be
bound by the purchaser to suit himself and the blank
pages utilized to note changes of classification as published
from time to time in the OFFICIAL GAZETTE, or they may
be retained in temporary binders for convenience in cor-
recting the classification by interleaving the Classifica-
tion Bulletins containing the definitions of revised classes
as completed.
Classification of German Patents,
Printed copies of a translation of the Manual of Classi-
fication of the German Patent Office may be had upon ap-
plication to the Commissioner of Patents at $1.00 per copy.
With the aid of this translation and the numerical list
of German patents, classified according to classes, -sub-
classes, and groups, whic& Is accessible In the Scientific
Library, it will be possible to make complete searches In
the German patents.
Renewal of Forfeited Cases.
A petition for the renewal of a forfeited application need
not be signed by the inventor or assignee, but may be
signed by the attorney.
A power of attorney in the original application authoriz-
Ing an attorney to transact all business in the Patent Office
in connection with the application construed to be of suffi-
cient scope to include the signing of a petition for renewal
and the subsequent prosecution of the application.   (Es
