Receipts and Expenditures While the number of applications for patents and for regis- tration of trade-marls was larger in 1944 than in 1943 with a consequent increase in revenues, this increase in the revenues of the Office was greatly offset by the decline in other income and by expenditures incurred in its services to the military branches and other agencies of the Government. Net receibts * of the Office in.the fiscal year ended June 30, 1944, were $3,746,- 53477, or $182,917.80 greater than in 1943. For the reasons stated, however, expenditures in the latest fiscal period rose to $4,858,850.79, as against $4,610,780.45 in the previous twelve months. The deficit for 1944 was $1,112,316.02.
