                      The Committee on the Judiciary, to whom was referred the bill
                    (H.R. 8124) to amend title 18, United States Code, to provide for
                    transportation and subsistence for criminal justice defendants, and
                    for other purposes, having considered the same, reports favorably
                    thereon without amendment and recommends that the bill do pass.

                                         Purpose and Summary

                      H.R. 8124, the Criminal Judicial Administration Act of 2020,
                    would amend current law to give courts the discretion, in the inter-
                    est of justice, to order the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) to fur-
                    nish, when financially necessary, transportation and subsistence
                    expenses (lodging and food) for released defendants to return home
                    from court proceedings, and subsistence while attending such pro-
                    ceedings. The bill would also amend current law to grant mag-
