H.R. 8825, the Fight Notario Fraud Act of 2020, is designed to
address notario fraud, the practice of the provision of unauthorized
immigration legal services, which has not been effectively curbed
by existing federal, state, and local efforts. The practice continues
to cause irreparable harm to immigrant communities. Courts
across the country, which often are the first government entities to
identify instances of notario fraud, have recognized the widespread
