The Committee on Natural Resources, to whom was referred the
bill (H.R. 4348) to terminate certain rules issued by the Secretary
of the Interior and the Secretary of Commerce relating to endan-
gered and threatened species, and for other purposes, having con-
sidered the same, reports favorably thereon without amendment
and recommends that the bill do pass.
PURPOSE OF THE BILL
The purpose of H.R. 4348 is to terminate certain rules issued by
the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Commerce relat-
ing to endangered and threatened species, and for other purposes.
BACKGROUND AND NEED FOR LEGISLATION
The world is losing species at unprecedented rates,1 and strong
endangered species protections are necessary to prevent future
extinctions.
