The Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, to which was
referred the bill (S. 785) to amend the Alaska Native Claims Settle-
ment Act to provide for equitable allotment of land to Alaska Na-
tive veterans, having considered the same, reports favorably there-
on with an amendment in the nature of a substitute and an
amendment to the title and recommends that the bill, as amended,
do pass.
The amendments are as follows:
1. Strike all after the enacting clause and insert the following:
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the Alaska Native Vietnam Era Veterans Land Allot-
ment Act.
SEC. 2. PURPOSE.
The purpose of this Act is to provide an opportunity for certain Alaska Native
Vietnam era veterans to select and receive an allotment of Federal land in the State
of Alaska.
SEC. 3. DEFINITIONS.
In this Act:
(1) AVAILABLE FEDERAL LAND.-
(A) IN GENERAL.-The term available Federal land means Federal land
in the State that-
(i) is vacant, unappropriated, and unreserved;
