Cool evenings and media ads
announcing going back to school' sales
always evoke in me a Pavlovian reaction,
and I instinctively begin to make ready for
the fall schedule Our Board of Directors by
no means has been vacationing but the
natural slack of the Bar's activity in the
summer has given us a chance to plan, and
we have some exciting ideas for
implementation this year.
One idea irullating my soul fur awhile
has been the thought of inviting lay
participation in our Committee work. It has
been a reality in several Bar Associations
for a number of years, and I think it is time
for us to take an in-depth look into the
concept. Both the Monroe County and
Cleveland Bar Associations have found the
injection of a lay view-point to be
rewarding. I have
appointed former
director, Herman P.
I oonsk as Chair-
man of an ad hoc
co ittee to consid-
er this matter.
We all know
what a necessary
tool of our every
day practice the

OCA decided to

a Offermana of printing this
book last year Justice James B Kane and
his Executive Assistant, attorney Harry
Brand were quick to see the potential for
ECHA to t over Its pubileation at
year's President, Mike Gibson, d the
Board of Directors agreed, and we all know
the result - a financial success for the Bar
Budget strains are a real problem for our
Association, as with every organization so
when a non-dues source of income presents
itself, it is important to seize it Director
Richard Gordon is chairing a v~ry
innovative Committee which intends to
improve this publication so as to better
meet the needs of our memebership
governmental agencies and others who
find it so useful
I don't know wh~th~r many people
know of the present illness of John Boccio,
our Publicitiy Director and Editor of The
Bar Bulletin for so many years Later this
year we expect John to be back with us, but
in the meantime, we want to consider
changing the format of our media organ.
John was always suggesting changes, but
we were too busy to listen. His son Frank
better known to us as the Clerk of Family
Court took over as Editor of the Bulletin
while John is convalescing, and he has
