               Traditional Tribal Constitution and Bylaws
                               of the
                   Village of Akhiok, Alaska



                          Preamble


We, a group of Native residents of Akhiok, Alaska having a common bond of
residence, in order to promote our welfare through the development of govern-

mental and economic enterprises as they relate to the Public Law 93-638 and
other Indian programs, do establish this Constitution and Bylaws.


                         Article 1 - Name


The name of this organization shall be the Village of Akhiok.


                         Article II - Definition of Territory


The boundaries of the Village of Akhiok are:
     Beginning at SE corner of Section 28, Unsurveyed T37S,
     R31W, Seward Meridian, Alaska; thence North to the poing
     where the E boundary of Section 28, Unsurveyed T37S, R31W,
     intersects the mean low water line of Akhiok Bay; thence in
     a northerly direction following the mean water line of Akhiok
     Bay to the point where it intersects the North boundary of
     Section 22, Unsurveyed T37S, R31W; thence West to the NW
     corner of Section 24 Unsurveyed T37S, R32W; thence S to the
     SW corner of the NW 1/4 of Section 36, Unsurveyed T37S, R32W;
     thence East to the SE corner of the NE 1/4 of Section 31,
     Unsurveyed T37S, R31W; thence northeasterly to the point of
     beginning, containing 9 3/4 square miles, more or less.


                          Article III - Membership

Section I - All Native persons whose names shall appear on the membership
roll and being residents within the geographical coverage of this Village

of Akhiok for at least 60 continous days shall be members of this organization.

Section II - a. New members. All children of any member, who are residents
of Akhiok shall be members of this organization.  b. Any Native person who
becomes a resident of Akhiok may be adopted as a member of the organization
by the council by a majority vote in it's regular called meeting.

Section III - Definition of Adult - Any person who is 18 years of age or
older will be considered an adult.
