                         DECEMBER 31, 1839.
Referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs, and ordered to be printed.

To the Honorable Richard M. Johnson, Vice President of the United
States, or to the acting President of the Senate:

SiR : The undersigned, chief warriors, sachems, and chiefs of the Six
and Seneca nations of Indians, being assembled in council, on the Buf-
falo Creek reservation, respectfully beg leave to inform you, and through
you the Senate of the United States, that, expecting that the treaty attempt-
ed to be negotiated with the Seneca nation by Ransom H. Gillet, Esq., will be
presented again for the ratification of the Senate, we have collected and
shall soon forward to the Senate a sufficient amount of information to con-
vince every unprejudiced mind of the injustice and invalidity of that treaty.
We shall show, fully and satisfactorily, that the resolution of the Senate,
requiring the amendments to the said treaty to be sanctioned by the Seneca
nation has never been complied with, and that fraud, bribery, perjury, and
forgery, have been practised in order to obtain the treaty.
We, therefore, respectfully request that all action on the subject may be
deferred till we shall have had, by a delegation soon to start for Washing-
ton, a full hearing before the Senate, after which we will cheerfully com-
mit our cause to your justice and magnanimity.
With high considerations of respect, your obedient servants,
