Washington, D.C. 20245 U -I * - JAN 2 8 1991 Memorandum To: From: Director, Office of Tribal Services Attention: Chief, 3ranch of Tribal Relations Eastern Area Director Subject: Notice of Tribal Name Change - Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head This is intended to serve as notice that the Indian tribe recognized by the United States in the Federal Register notice of February 10, 1987 (52 Fed.Reg. 4193), the Wampanoag Tribal Council of Gay Head, Inc., has changed its name to: Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). The tribe has provided this office with a copy of its non-IRA constitution, a copy of which is attached for your files along with a copy of the December 17, 1990, cover letter that accompanied the governing document. This office responded to the Wampanoag Tribe's cover letter with a letter from this office dated January 8, 1991, with attachments. We provided the tribe with comments and suggested clarifying language changes and/or other revisions to the constitution, but have not yet received information thu.L the suggestions have, in fact, been accepted.
