Reports on pending projects Connie Ring reported: Article 4A is being widely adopted. Articles 3 and 4 are going forward in California and New York, and other states, but have encountered controversy in California over Article 4. An ABA special committee have recommended possible additional amendments to Article 4. The timing and scope of such a project needs to be considered and no immediate decisions is appropriate. Article 5 Drafting Committee is progressing satisfactorily. Article 2 Drafting Committee, of which Dick Speidel is Reporter, will hold first session in December. It is coordinating its work with the Special Computer Software Committee, of which Ray Nimmer is Reporter. Hazard reported that ALI had recommended Professors Amelia Boss of Temple and Robert Scott of Virginia as additional Institute representatives on the Article 2 Drafting Committee, a recommendation that the Conference had accepted. Chuck Mooney reported: Article 8 Drafting Committee is making good progress and expects to have a first draft next Spring. Article- 9 Study Committee will issue its report next summer. It will have a November meeting and a Spring meeting, and perhaps one additional meeting before its report. They hope to have a symposium on the report in 1992. 2. Funding UCC work. Hazard reported that there was little prospect of success for fund raising for Article 9 from foundations. However, there is a prospect of significant donation from an industry source. In any event, the ALI will have underwritten substantial cost for the Article 9 Study project.
