SHORT TITLE. 1 This Article shall be known and may be cited as Uniform Commercial 2 Code -- Secured Transactions. Section 9-102. POLICY AND SCOPE OF ARTICLE. 1' (1) Except as provided by Sections 9-103 and 9-104 this Article 2 applies 3 (a) to any transaction which is intended to create a 4 security interest in goods (including inventory, 5 equipment, farm products and consumer poods), 6 documents, instruments, chattel paper, accounts or 7 contract .rights; and also 8 (b) to any assignment of accounts, contract rights or 9 chattel paper which is by way of sale. Unless the 10 context otherwise requires the rules of this Article 11 applicable to security interests apply to assignments 12 by way of sale. 13 (2) This Article applies regardless of the form of the transaction 14 out of which the security interest arises and is applicable to transactions 15 in the form of pledge, chattel mortgage, chattel trust, factor's lien, 16 equipment trust, conditional sale, bailment-lease, trust receipt, other 17 lien or title retention contracts and any other transaction intended to- 18 have effect as security and also including a security interest in 19 personal property under a contract, lease, mortgage or other writing 20 affecting real estate.
