Number, Race, and Sex of Perpetrators

The number of persons known to be involved in the 1,964 bank robberies,
burglaries, and larcenies was 2,469.  The following table shows a breakdown
of the 2,469 persons by race and sex.  In a small number of cases, the use of
full disguise makes determination of race and sex impossible.

 Investigation to date has resulted in the identification of 1,246 of the
 2,469 persons known to be involved. Of these 1,246 identified persons,
 36.1 percent were determined to be users of narcotics, and 28 percent have
 previous convictions in either federal or state court for bank robbery, bank
 burglary, or bank larceny.
