Number, Race, and Sex of Perpetrators
The number of persons known to be involved in the 2,440 bank robberies,
burglaries, and larcenies was 2,737. The following table shows a breakdown of
the 2,737 persons by race and sex. In a small number of cases the use of full
disguise makes determination of race and sex impossible.

Investigation to date has resulted in the identification of 1,669 of the
2,737 persons known to be involved. Of these 1,669 identified persons,
34.6 percent were determined to be users of narcotics, and 32.6 percent were
found to have been previously convicted in either federal or state court for
bank robbery, bank burglary, or bank larceny.
