Gorman I am profoundly honored at the prospect of serving as President of the Association of American Law Schools. Part of the honor flows from being in the company of the extraordinary men and women who have served in that position since the founding of the Association in 1900. In even greater measure, I am honored that this body has placed its confidence in me to lead the AALS in helping to improve the quality of our law schools and thereby the quality of the legal profession. I could not ask for a better role model than President Thomas Morgan, who has discharged his wide- ranging responsibilities with remarkable insight and thoughtfulness, sensitivity and candor. I have also over the past year as President-Elect observed and learned from the indefatigable, wise, resourceful and irreplaceable Executive Director, Betsy Levin, with whom--as aided and abetted by the splendid staff in the Washington Office--I shall have the privilege and pleasure to work in the year ahead. Professor Robert A. Gorman, AALS President, addresses the House of Representatives of the Association of American Law Schools. His address is printed here in its entirety. It is customary for the incoming President to address the House of Representatives, briefly to be sure, on one or more issues of significance to the Association or to legal education or the wider legal profession.
