 Future Annual Meetings

The meeting of 1971 will be held on
the usual dates, December 27-30, in the
 Sheraton-Chicago Hotel. The 1972 Annual
Meeting is scheduled for the Waldorf As-
toria Hotel in New York City, and the 1973
Annual Meeting will be in New Orleans, with
the new Marriott as the headquarters and
overflow at the Roosevelt. For 1974, the Ex-
ecutive Committee has decided to consult a
random sample of law teachers to determine
how much sentiment there is for changing the
time of year of the Annual Meeting, and the
kinds of locations that have been selected.

     President-Elect Richard C. Maxwell would
like to have expressions of interest on the
enclosed sheet from as many law teachers as
possible, indicating the committees on which
they would like to serve during 1972. Through
committee service, each teacher can make a
significant contribution to the improvement
of legal education. This contribution, of
course, is enhanced when the committees are
given funds for meetings and other activities,
and efforts to obtain such funds are being
made.

Selection will start right after March
15th, so all are urged to send their state-
ments of preference as quickly as possible
to Professor Maxwell.

Anti-Poverty Law Conference

The proceedings of the Conference on
the Teaching of Anti-Poverty Law, sponsored
by the AALS and held at Fordham Law School
early in 1969, have been published, and copies
distributed to law schools and their libraries.
A limited supply of additional copies is avail-
able for distribution to individual members of
law faculties.

Amendments to Articles

    Anti-Discrimination Article: After extend-
ed debate and some amendments from the floor,
the changes proposed by the Special Committee
on Women in Legal Education in Section 6-1 of
Article 6 of the Articles of Association, and
its accompanying Approved Association Policy,
were approved on December 30, 1970 so as to
include a prohibition against discrimination
or segregation on the ground of religion, na-
tional origin, or sex, along with race and
color, which were already covered by the Arti-
cle. The terms of the amended Section and
Statement of Policy appear on a separate sheet
enclosed with this Newsletter.
