       Annual Meetings

Annual Meeting, 1969. Slightly over 1,700 registered for the 1969 Annual Meeting at
the San Francisco Hilton. The proceedings of the round tables dealing generally with the theme,
Contemporary Social Research: The Law and the Law Schools, will be published, after editing, in
separate volumes. The proceedings of the general sessions and the luncheon, including interesting
discussions by panels on part-time legal education and the role of students in the governance of
law schools, and the remarks of Justice Earl Warren, Justice Roger Traynor, and Judge Henry Friendly,
will be published in Part Two of the Proceedings late in the Spring.

At the second general session, Professor Alfred F. Conard was chosen as President-
Elect and Dean Willard H. Pedrick and Professor Ian R. Macneil were chosen as members of the Execu-
tive Committee. Consequently, the Executive Committee for 1970 will consist of the following
                                                             SERVING DURING 199 AND 1970

                        PRESIDENT Boke

                                                               WILLARD H. PEDEiCK
Ariona Slot. Univoity Collge of Law
Annual Meeting, 1970. The Executive Committee, at its meeting in August, 1967, de-
cided that the Annual Meeting in December, 1970, should be held in Chicago, and at the meeting in
November, 1967, the Committee decided that the offer of the Sheraton-Chicago Hotel to serve as the
headquarters hotel should be accepted. During the past few weeks, some three dozen law teachers,
citing certain well known events that occurred in Chicago in 1968 and 1969, have expressed their
intention not to attend the 1970 Annual Meeting if it is held in Chicago. In response to these
objections to the selection of the site, the question will again be considered during the Executive
Committee meeting in Atlanta on February 19th and 20th, 1970, reviewing decisions made by the two
previous Executive Committees against seeking another site for the 1970 meeting.

The theme for the 1970 Annual Meeting will concentrate on the general subject of the
ecology of the nation and the current problems of pollution and preservation of the environment,
under the general title, Man in Nature. It is expected that most of the round table discussions
will be addressed to that subject. The Program Committee is starting to make plans for the meet-
ing under the leadership of Dean Fordham, pending final designation of the chairmanship.

       Canadian Associates

At the Second General Session of the 1969 Annual Meeting, the following resolution
       was adopted:

The Executive Committee is authorized to recognize as 'Canadian
Associates' those faculty members of Canadian Law Schools who are
eligible for membership in the Canadian Law Teachers Association and
who apply for such recognition, and to make available to them the
opportunity, on the same basis as teachers in AALS member schools,
to participate in AALS activities, including eligibility for member-
ship on AALS committees and round table councils, listing in the
biographical and 'list by subject' sections of the Directory of Law
Teachers, and the receipt of AALS publications and communications.
Such recognition as Canadian Associates will not include any right
to vote at General Sessions of AALS Annual Meetings and will be
subject to the payment of annual dues to be fixed by the Executive
Committee after taking into consideration the cost of the services
provided. Dues will be payable as of the beginning of the calendar
year of membership and payment of dues shall be a condition of
listing in the Directory of Law Teachers.
