Largest in Association's History

The 1985 New York Annual Meeting was the most success-
ful in the Association's history with the largest attendance
and exhibit hall since the previous record was set at the
1981 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
1,470 members registered, joined by 36 student members
and 139 members and non-members who took advantage
of the one-day registration program. 103 other non-mem-
bers also attended, giving us a total paid registration
of 1,748.
With us in New York were 89 others who were special
guests of the Association, non-member participants in the
educational programs and paid staff from the Chicago
Headquarters and from the firm managing the exhibit hall.
499 men and women were in the exhibit hall from participat-
ing firms and organizations. The grand total attendance at
the meeting was an all-time high of 2,336.
The exhibit hall was the largest we have ever enjoyed,
featuring 100 exhibitors, using 137 booths. The ever-pop-
ular continental breakfasts in the exhibit hall were well at-
tended by members and exhibitors on three mornings dur-
ing the Annual Meeting.
The three major social events of the Annual Meeting were
well attended. 1,530 attended the Opening Reception, a
record 1,437 participated in the Opening Luncheon and
1,186 were present for the traditional Closing Banquet.
The New York Local Arrangements Committee, under the
leadership of Past President Jack S. Ellenberger, did a
superb job of handling the myriad details involved in plan-
ning and running such a large event. The educational pro-
gram, directed by Program Chair Diana Vincent-Daviss,
was outstanding, offering a wide variety of professional
topics of interest and importance to law librarians.
Thanks to the hard work and effort of so many members, the
1985 Annual Meeting in the Big Apple will be remem-
bered as one of the most successful and enjoyable the
Association has sponsored.

Arrangements Committee Chair Jack S. Ellenberger with
President Jacquelyn J. Jurkins.
