Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities - Protection
under Canadian Law
In a letter dated July 30, 1987, the Legal Bureau wrote:
The [Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961] is implemented
by the Diplomatic and Consular Privileges and Immunities Act, 25-26
Elizabeth II, Chapter 31 and amended by 29-3o Elizabeth II, Chapter
74. The [Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes
Against Internationally Protected Persons, Including Diplomatic Agents,
1973] is implemented by the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1975 23-
24-25 Elizabeth II, Chapter 93, which makes several amendments to
our criminal code regarding internationally protected persons.
